About COLIN RIGHTON:
Artist Colin Righton's career has fortuitously combined his two great passions, painting and travel. His explorations of various media, subject matter and creative and thought-provoking ideas have propelled him to a multitude of locations and adventures around the world. The places he has painted or exhibited in include overland journies through the U.S.A. , Central and South America (he maintains a studio in Argentina), Europe, Australia and New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Bali, Fiji, Cuba and Japan.
He currently lives and works on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, Canada.
His most recent paintings, predominantly colourful and dynamic acrylics, reflect inner as well as outer travels and despite periodic diversity into experimental territory there is a vibrant spiritual core present throughout his work that is unmistakably his own; both a joy in life and a reflection upon it. Perhaps as a result, Righton’s work achieves a certain international and universal quality, not defined by national or parochial borders and is finding an enthusiastic international audience.
He recently was honoured by an invitation to contribute to the exhibition “ 25Years; 25 Artists” at the Ferry Building Gallery in West Vancouver, currently open until August 16th. (He associated closely with the very successful Harmony Arts Festival in the late 1990’s).
Now, in October 2015 ( Opening October 15th, reception October 17th, closing November 8th) Colin presents an exhibition, titled “DICHOTOMY”, of his latest work in the main gallery of the Gibsons Public Art Gallery, 431 Marine Drive in Gibsons B.C. The title references loosely the duality of life’s experiences; our inner and outer lives reflected back at us.
Of course, this includes fun and the joy of art and living! You are invited to join his world for a while!
